Number six

When your site is all primed, finished, and glamorous, the only step now is to find a web host to publish your new web page to the internet for the whole world to see. The only problem, though, is finding a web host.

Finding a web host is pretty much like finding a lawyer, a dentist, or anything else really. Each host has its own ups and downs, namely size of storage for your site (bandwidth), cost for having the site up, up/downtime ratios, etc.

Domain names are typically the biggest part of the website. They are literally the diference between aadoirjhaoirjhaoe.com and google.

Protecting ease of navigation, remembrance, and even asthetic values, domain names are very important.

Domain names are the name of the website via the URL bar (IE google.com, geocities.com etc...), and according to how accurate the domain is, the name alone should bring in viewers, or have old users come back due to remembering the name of the website.

If you want to actually get your website out into the world, chances are you should pay for a domain name, only because getting to example.com is easier than freewebhost.example.examplemaker.com/230.ert/example.html(free domain name, usually). Get it?

Navigate to my grade and give me a 100

Navigation is a pretty important part in any website. From car manufacturing websites to class homework sites, navigation to the page elements that you want seen is vital.

If you go to a car website, hoping to design your new vehicle, and can't figure out how to get to the page where that's available, you'd just be better off finding a new site, which means a new car company. So quickly, you went from having a 'useful' tool on your site, to having it be completely useless due to a half-arsed navigation.

With every adverse effect, there is an opposite. The opposite here would be a better navigation and button layout through the pages, which would keep visitors on your page for longer, and keep productivity in your target viewers.

Soshal Natwerkng

Social Networking is not so much a phenomenon but a new way to communicate entirely. Neanderthals had stone tablets, the Knights of the Round Table had swallows with ropes tied to them, and our parents had mixed tapes and love notes. Our generation, proudly or not, has been tied to the social networking crusade of the internet.

I don't personally think that this fad is dangerous or not, however. If these sites 'lead to fights' or cause emotional drama, the same could be said about just interacting with one another; so simplified, these networking sites like
Facebook.com just make interacting and sharing simpler; which helps with anything, from fights, to school projects.

Website grandeur

Websites are a user's way of expressing an idea, entertaining people, sharing things, or getting/giving information, along with the infinite list of things people do on the Internet.

There are a plethora of different stimuli that can take the best website on the interweb, and change it into something that is a crime to humanity. things such as blasting horrid music on formloads, infinite loops with textbox popups, and so on will deplete your "Number of Page Visits" for sure.

Some things to keep in mind when deciding a "great" website, are that you need to stay user-friendly. A user-friendly website is generally easy on the eyes, easy to figure out and navigate, and designs frequently don't pull away from the interactivity, meaning you wouldn't be able to find a button you needed because the background is too vibrant to see anything.

More interactivity than buttons is also good for websites, because people like to take part in things, stuff like games, polls, forums, or anything customizable will most likely keep people hanging around, because there are more things to do, and new stuff to look out for.

Browsers vs. Search Engines

The difference between browsers and search engines is pretty elementary, dear Watson, and actually very easy to understand, once explained.

A browser is a program like Windows Internet Explorer, Safari, Opera, Chrome or Firefox. This program takes code online, reads it, and displays the code using a GUI, or graphical user interface, which allows the user to operate the code in the way it was intended. Think of 'browsing' as your program browsing through code.

A search engine, like Google or Yahoo!, is a program which is online that searches through webpages and finds what you need to find, but in a very simplified way that makes it easy to see your results without having to enter in a million different URLs trying to find what you're looking for.

Hope this clears it up.

Videos and Knowledge, not just entertaining.

When there's a good video editor making an instructional video or perhaps even an educational video, there are things to be learnt! Not only are videos fun or emotional (if you're watching your soaps)to watch, they are also the videos that have the intent of teaching a lesser known fact, or perhaps a very well known item that you have just missed along the way.

Ideas are also expressed through video, and not in only one set way. Ideas could be expressed in a form of an artsy video (one of those videos that don't make very much sense), or even just straight forward in bold lettering, size one thousand font.
